Hadjar Penalized for Floor Breach, Starts at Back of Grid

Isack Hadjar has been disqualified from the qualifying results for the Miami Grand Prix after his car failed a post-session technical inspection.

FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer found that the floor boards on Hadjar’s Red Bull extended two millimetres beyond the reference volume on both the left and right sides. The infringement was confirmed after Hadjar had originally qualified ninth.

The stewards disqualified Hadjar from the qualifying session. He is still permitted to start the Grand Prix, but will do so from the back of the grid.

All other cars passed the post-qualifying technical checks, including Hadjar’s team mate Max Verstappen, who qualified second. The inspections included measurements of floor body dimensions.

Red Bull brought a substantial upgrade package for the RB22 this weekend, featuring revisions to the floor. Hadjar’s car failed to meet the required dimensional limits related to that area.

As a result of the disqualification, Pierre Gasly has been promoted to ninth on the grid. Hadjar will share the back row with Gabriel Bortoleto, who had already been excluded from the sprint race for exceeding maximum air intake pressure in his engine.
