McLaren and Red Bull to Appeal Stewards’ Decision Restoring Gasly’s Podium

McLaren and Red Bull have announced they will challenge the Monaco Grand Prix stewards’ decision to overturn the two penalties originally handed to Pierre Gasly.

Gasly was initially demoted from third to seventh after being given two penalties for allegedly exceeding the pit lane speed limit. The stewards later rescinded those penalties, concluding Gasly had not breached the limit.

However, four other drivers were identified as having exceeded the pit lane speed limit and were penalised during the race. Among them was Oscar Piastri, who moved from fourth to fifth after Gasly’s penalties were removed.

McLaren and Red Bull have formally notified the relevant authorities of their intention to appeal the stewards’ ruling. Red Bull’s driver Isack Hadjar, who had originally stood on the podium in third place, was demoted to fourth following the stewards’ reversal.

The teams’ appeals focus on inconsistencies in how penalties were applied and the impact the decision has on final race positions and championship standings. Both teams have indicated they will pursue all available avenues to seek a review of the stewards’ conclusion.
