One driver was perfectly positioned to gain from the late red flag in the Monaco Grand Prix: Arvid Lindblad.

The Racing Bulls driver was the only competitor still running on his original set of tyres when the race was stopped after 68 of the scheduled 78 laps.
Under Formula 1 rules drivers must use at least two different tyre compounds during the race, but they are not required to make a pit stop to change them. Because Lindblad had not yet pitted, the red flag allowed him to change tyres while the race was suspended and satisfy the rule without losing track position.
Had the red flag not occurred, Lindblad would likely have slipped out of the points. Instead he moved up to a career-best sixth place at the finish.

Unusually, five drivers picked up penalties for speeding in the pit lane during the race. In four of those cases the infringement was marginal — exceeding the limit by just 0.1 kph.
George Russell’s lap 31 stop, the fastest complete stop of the race, was among those penalised. His team mate’s first tyre change — the second-quickest stop in Monaco on Sunday — was completed without a breach. The next two fastest stops, recorded by Lewis Hamilton and Oscar Piastri, also came with pit lane speeding violations.
Hamilton’s penalty did not prevent him finishing second behind Andrea Kimi Antonelli, but his pace on worn tyres over both stints was not as strong as team mate Charles Leclerc’s.
