Few readers agreed with Juan Pablo Montoya’s suggestion that Formula 1 drivers should be prohibited by the FIA from harshly criticising the series and its rules. One of the rare supporters was Broderick, who wrote:
I strongly agree.
Sporting stars from all sports often feel free to criticise the organisations that pay them well.
In reality, you cannot openly criticise a workplace without expecting consequences; it’s puzzling why sports stars should be treated differently.

There are currently no Nordic circuits capable of hosting a Formula 1 Grand Prix. A new large-scale project aims to change that by building a Danish motorsport venue with an arena for around 100,000 spectators.

An official noted that previous F1 venues suffered from poor transport links and remote locations. A proposed return to Incheon would benefit from being roughly 30 minutes from the airport, offering high-end accommodation and a range of nearby attractions for visitors.
Van Langendonck goes from pits to victory in drying British F4 race (Formula Scout)
Rain left the circuit damp at the start, and the field began the formation lap on wet tyres. About half the grid pitted at the end of the lap, including Van Langendonck and Tommy Harfield. Van Langendonck sacrificed his eighth-place grid position to rejoin the race from the pits and went on to win.

- Born today in 1963: Stefano Modena. The 1987 Formula 3000 champion with Onyx later scored podiums in F1 with Brabham and Tyrrell, and earned a point in his final F1 start for Jordan in 1992.
- Thirty-five years ago today Ayrton Senna won the Monaco Grand Prix, finishing ahead of Nigel Mansell, who had passed Alain Prost on his way to second place.
