Williams has announced that its new Formula 1 car for the 2022 season will carry a livery that looks “more Williams” after another revision to the team’s colour scheme.
The team has undergone several livery changes since title sponsor Martini left at the end of 2018. A new design introduced for Rokit in 2019 was tweaked for 2020 and then revised again after the partnership ended.
Last season Williams introduced another overhaul of its car’s look. Today the team used social media to confirm a further update for the 2022 F1 season, including an adjustment to the dominant colour.
“It’s different,” said new driver Alexander Albon in a video released by the team. “More Williams.” He described the revised design as simpler in terms of the colour palette. His team-mate Nicholas Latifi, entering his third season with Williams, added: “I think it’s going to look nice under the lights.” The first two races of the 2022 season take place at night under floodlights, making the livery’s appearance in artificial lighting a notable consideration.
Williams will unveil its new car for 2022, the FW44, on February 15th.
