It’s the higher ups and investors who push for recurring revenue models to generate more money from paying customers.
Because: “[Game X] does it and has increased revenue streams as a result, so therefore your game should have it, or I’m taking my investment money elsewhere that promises better returns on investments.” If you don’t get that funding, the studio can shut down and people lose their jobs. So…

F1 title contender Russell officially launches new Silverstone kart circuit (Motorsport UK)
George Russell has opened a new 1,377-metre international-standard kart circuit at Silverstone. The track sits at the heart of the British Grand Prix venue, includes parts of the pre-2010 Grand Prix layout such as Bridge corner and Brooklands, and will host year-round activities from arrive-and-drive sessions to competitive racing for drivers aged six and up.
Gearing Up: Indy 500 Open Test providing May preview week (IndyCar)
The Indy 500 open test will give several drivers their first chance to prepare for the race, including Mick Schumacher, Jacob Abel, Caio Collet and Dennis Hauger as they vie for starts in the big event.
