Oscar Piastri received the largest attributes boost in the August driver ratings update for F1 23, the official video game based on the 2023 Formula 1 season.
EA Sports and developer Codemasters released the August update to coincide with the launch of Season Two of the game’s Podium Pass. The update adjusts attributes for all 20 drivers included in the game. Nyck de Vries remains in the roster and Daniel Ricciardo is scheduled to be added in a later patch. Thirteen drivers saw changes to their overall ratings in this round of updates.
The biggest increase went to McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, whose overall rating rose three points from 76 to 79. That boost cements his status as the highest-rated rookie in the game, ahead of Logan Sargeant, although he still ranks 18th overall among drivers in the grid. Piastri’s rise reflects his recent performance across Silverstone, the Hungaroring and Spa-Francorchamps, and the benefit from a major upgrade package to the McLaren MCL60. His pace rating increased by six points and his racecraft by three.
The top three drivers in the game—Max Verstappen, Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton—each saw their overall ratings increase by one point. Verstappen remains the highest-rated driver at 96 overall, with each of his four attributes rising by one point.
On the downward side, Aston Martin’s Lance Stroll experienced the largest drop, losing two points to fall to an 81 overall after decreases in racecraft and pace. Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz Jr. slipped from 88 to 87 overall, while teammate Charles Leclerc lost four points in awareness but retains an 89 overall rating.
Other changes include one-point overall drops for George Russell, Sergio Perez and Valtteri Bottas. Alexander Albon, Pierre Gasly, Yuki Tsunoda and Nico Hülkenberg each gained one point overall.
